some days

some days the thing that makes most sense
is putting a book in a puddle

wonder what it will look like
or
if it will still be there
tomorrow

  1. This made me smile, i don't think it would have ever occured to me to do such a thing!

  2. I just got your book the other day and I wanted to tell you that it is magnificent. If there were an Oscar for books this would get it. A joy to behold and I don't even do fabric dying!

  3. So the first thought that crossed my mind was that ronnie had come to visit ;>]
quickly followed by a question: I wonder what I would do if I was walking down that back alley
and came across said book in an unsavory puddle.
I decided I would probably [bravely] fetch the sodden thing to see what was written inside.
And finding nothing, would toss it back in.

This may be another post the likes of the laundry in Fitzroy...?

  4. I know all about these sort of days ;~) ..... but always the wondering remains.... (and the sense of childish play - always the sense of naughty play)

  6. Really, didnt like the book or just experimenting? The enquiring mind... Wonder if my child had done this what I would have said to them but looking at your phots makes a perfectly acceptable experiment and in many ways engaging

The remains of a hurt soul?

    1. the storm will never be forgotten by New Orleans and the worst damage from it cannot easily be repaired...because it isn't of the physical kind that can be simply rebuilt

  8. Mud dyeing? Or just for fun? Either way it brought a smile and has me wondering if we'll have mud puddles after the snow melts. There's paper in the studio that might like a mud bath.

    1. mud, snow, ice
all have great potential beyond insulation and occupation for shovellers...

  9. Yes. Books aren't always so important, especially when they're trying to tell us who we are when we are not who they're telling us who we are.
Throw some pencils and some paint into the puddle too. Maybe they don't serve us as they always ought.
Puddles are great for treading in.

  10. I have to agree with the first comment - your post made me smile, but it would never have occurred to me to do that either. I've always had so much respect for books that putting one in a mud puddle is almost beyond comprehension, but I am loosening up a bit!
